You would hear a lot of Korean traditional music. You could also hear the traditional drum called the Buk. You would also hear string instruments like something called the plucked. You can also hear wind instruments like the flute. Not to mention you could also hear percussion instruments like the Gong.
You could see the traditional dances of Korea. They include dances from a thousand years ago. There is one dance called the court dance you can see. There is also a flower named the flower of Sharon. Also there are viburum flowers.

The country offical name is Portuguese Republic. Portugal has its own architectural style which, was popular from 1498 to 1540 mannerist styles. Some of the best most luxurious new hotels in Europe are being built in Portugal. One luxury hotel – the Douro Queen is a floating one, a cruise on the Douro river.

Portugal is one of the smallest European countries. Bordered on the west and south by the Atlantic Ocean. The climate in the north is milder and damper than the rest of the country, with warmer drier weather in the south. The summer hear on the coast is to an average of 27-28*C. The sun is reasonably mild, but it is recommend that all clients put on sun block and wear a hat when in the sun.

Dining in one of the many resturants in Portugal is a culinary delight. The best taste in Portugal is the fish. The wines are from the country’s sun drenched vine yards. The sweets and desserts are made from age old recipes kept secret by the monks and nuns. In Portugal, fine food and wine can also be a reason for a festive occasion. It also includes the aformmas (?) and tastes of smoled (?) meats. Their lifestyle is relaxed and they are most frinedly and helpful people.

Nice job Diana. From where did you get your information? Try to write in your own words rather than cutting and pasting from websites like this one: http://www.intheknowtraveler.com/archives/1311

    What is “Pavlov Dog?

You may think that Pavlov is a dog but Pavlov is a man .His real name was Ivan Pavlov. Ivan was actually enabled him to continue his research work. In 1883 he presented his doctor’s thesis on the subject of The centrifugal nerves of the heart. In this work he developed his idea of “nervism”, using as example the intensifying nerve of the heart which he had discovered, and furthermore laid down the basic principles on the trophic function of the nervous system. In this as well as in other works, resulting mainly from his research in the laboratory at the Botkin clinic, Pavlov showed that there existed a basic pattern in the reflex regulation of the activity of the circulatory organs. In the 1890s, Pavlov was investigating the gastric function of dogs, and later children,[3] by externalizing the salivary gland. Salivary glands are in mammals are exocrine glands, glands with ducts, that produce saliva. They also secrete amylase, an enzyme that breaks down starch into maltose. In other organisms such as insects, salivary glands are often used to produce biologically important proteins like silk or glues, and fly salivary glands contain polytene chromosomes that have been useful in genetic research. so he could collect, measure, and analyze the saliva and what response it had to food under different conditions. He noticed that the dogs tended to salivate before food was actually delivered to their mouths, and set out to investigate this “psychic secretion”, as he called it.

    Who was Pavlov’s Dog?
Ivan Pavlov was a scientist who studied how dogs responded to bells.Every time Pavlov rang a bell, that meant food for the dogs. The dogs would salivate even before they see the food.
The scientist’s real name was Ivan Petrovich Pavlov. He was also a docter, pshcholgist, and a physiologist.
Every time Pavlov rang the bell, the dogs salivated. This is called “Pavlov’s dog response”.Don’t get it? Well
let me give you an example.
“Let’s say your mother always used a particuler cleaner when you the stomach flu,you might feel nauseous
when you smell that cleaner.Without a reason, the immediate association with the smell is the sense that you
are about to throw up.Still don’t get it? Let me give you another one.
Let’s say that you don’t like school, you alomost failed it, it got you scared and really, really mad. Now you have your friends and other kids going to school.Every time you step into a school even when it’s not a problem, you might sweat,or get mad at the teacher.
    I hope that’s enough for you.That’s about Pavlov’s dog.

Christina- I love the way you use examples and analogies to explain these complex behavioral theories. This is a great skill you have. This also lets me know you understand what it is you are reading. This is a perfect example of how to write a comment or posting IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Thank you. Mr. Jump

    About Portugal

On the Portuguese flag there are two colors. The green on the flag means hope, joy, and love. The red on the flag means hardiness, bravery, strength, and courage. In the middle of the flag there is a coat of arms. The coat of arms means to protect the people. The Portuguese coat of arms also means that the country is protected. The coat of arms has a red shield with seven small castles. There are five blue small shields within the white sheild.

The population of portugal is 10,632,069. The capital is Lisbon. Portugal is a peaceful place. They never fight in Portugal. There hasn’t been any wars since World War II. In 1974 they had a Peace march. Portugal is divided into ten regions plus its the most south westerly country in Europe. There are 21 rivers in portugal running within its borders.

4th graders are now studying Portugal for the Magnet Expo. These are my senses about Portugal.
Portugal has a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. Although,Portugal looks small on the map, when you are living in it, you will think that it is the size of the Atlantic Ocean.
Portugal also has one of the major languages in the world. The language sounds nothing like English. Even though though it does not sound the same as New York, I think that it is very calm and still. Portuguese is actually spoken by about 200 million people because of its colonial past – especially because of Brazil. Now let’s talk about the foods.

Some of the foods in Portugal are tomatoes, potatoes, and Chili peppers. The chili peppers are grown in a country called Angola in Africa – a former colony. The foods are also grown underground. As you can see, Portugal is different from New York, it’s very big and it has many foods. That’s my senses about Portugal.

Kimchi represents Korea’s best known food. Koreans serve kimchi at almost every meal, and few Koreans can last more than a few days before cravings get the better of them. During the 1988 Summer Olympic Games, thousands of foreigners were introduced to it for the first time. Despite a reputation for being spicy, most people usually develop a taste for it, and many foreigners also find themselves missing it after returning to their home country.

On the special holiday of Eid Al-Adha they [Muslims] eat meat and give the people in need, friends, family and neighbors Moroccan people eat lots of really good types of food like salad, chicken, rice and lots of other things.

Eid Al-Adha is referred to as Eid Al-Kabir – the “Big Holiday” – because of its tremendous significance to Muslims. It’s one of two main Islamic holidays, and traditionally lasts for three days.

Eid Al-Adha translates to “Festival of Sacrifice” and commemorates Prophet Abraham’s willingness to obey God when he envisioned that he was to sacrifice his son. Muslims observe this day by slaughtering an animal – usually a sheep, goat or cow – according to humane Islamic guidelines (zabiha), and then offering much of its meat in charity.

Although the slaughter is incumbent upon only those who can afford it, many poor families in Morocco borrow money so that they can sacrifice a sheep or goat of their own. This is because the real significance of the day is not the slaughter itself, but that a Muslim follow Abraham’s example in demonstrating obedience to god

A maelstrom is an extremely huge, swirling body of water. It is a vortex that sucks small ships down to the ocean that it’s in. The Saltstraumen maelstrom is the most enormous maelstrom in the entire world. Maelstroms are extremely dangerous. Going into a maelstrom will be the last thing you’ll ever want to do.

Dear Rhys- Maelstroms sound scary. It was interesting to read on Wikipedia that the word itself is of Dutch origin. Equally interesting is that most of the maelstroms are up near the North Sea in the Northern Atlantic. Wouldn’t want to be caught in one of those! Best, Mr. Jump

The box jellyfish’s venom is among the most deadly in the world. They are invertebrates, which means they have no backbone. Their diet is meat, which means they’re carnivores. The box jellyfish’s average life span in the wild is less than a year. The sea turtle cannot be affected by the box jellyfish’s sting and they regularly eat the box jellyfish.

This is why the world trade center, the pentagon and the twin towers were attacked.Osama bin Laden’s declaration of a holy war against the United States, and a fatwa signed by bin Laden and others calling for the killing of American civilians in 1998, are seen by investigators as evidence of his motivation. The idea for the attacks came from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who first presented it to Osama bin Laden in 1996.The four flights involved were: AmericanAirlines flight 11,AmericanAirlines flight 77,UnitedAirlines flight 175,UnitedAirlines flight 93.At 8:46 a.m., five hijackers crashed American Airlines Flight 11 into the World Trade Center’s North Tower.at 9:03 a.m., another five hijackers crashed United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Tower.A fourth flight, United Airlines Flight 93, under the control of four hijackers, crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, southeast of Pittsburgh, at 10:03 a.m. after the passengers fought the hijackers.
