Magnet School of Global & Ethical Studies – 3829 Avenue K, Brooklyn NY 11210 (718) 377-7696
Dear Ms. Fernandez, Ms. Snow and entire P.S. 119 Staff:
I would just like to start off by saying thank you for all that you’ve done for me and my family. You have helped us grow in a great way. You taught us about loving ourselves, each other and the people around us. I remember every morning everyone in the school would have to say the peace builders pledge.
I am a peace builder
I pledge to praise people
To give up putdowns
To seek wise people
To notice and speak up about hurts I have caused
To right wrongs
To help other
I will build peace at home, in school and in my community each day
This pledge is what made me who I am today believe it or not. I would often think that it was corny and wouldn’t really help me in life but I was wrong. I still remember it till this day and it has taught me to be a kinder person and to go to an adult rather than to take things in my own hands. The peace builders pledge has taught me so much on how to be a better person without me even noticing.
The peace builders pledge wouldn’t have made such an impact without the great and wonderful duo Ms. Fernandez and Ms. Snow! Ms. Lisa Fernandez and Ms. Barbra Snow is by far the best principal and Asst. Principal that I’ve ever had to be completely honest. These two beautiful women are amazing. They are both so engaged in their students’ lives. They know every single one of their students by both face and name. Now that’s impressive! Ms. Fernandez and Ms. Snow are always working hard to give us the best education we can get as well as making the school year fun with cool fundraisers and trips.
Let’s not forget the teachers in the school as well. Alongside of Ms. Fernandez and Ms. Snow the teachers in this school are a great help as well. The teachers care for their students and only want the best for them. They teach advanced work to get the students ready for the next year and to prepare them for the New York State Test. My teachers helped me and gave me strategies that would help me in years to come. For example I was taught little songs to learn my multiplication tables. For my 7 times table I was taught with the song “London Bridge Is Falling Down”.
London Bridge is falling down
Falling down, falling down
London Bridge is falling down
My fair lady
This was translated to:
7, 14, 21
42 & 49
[70 was added on its own by the students]
This helped me remember the tables faster, easier, and funnier. I learned this from my second grade teacher Mrs. Heym.
The working staff at this school is outstanding. For instance, the officers are great at their jobs. They protect their students and teachers as well as themselves. They make sure that no one without an ID can get into the school. We can’t forget about the janitors. They may seem like an unimportant part of the school but in reality they are what keeps the school going. If they don’t clean the school then it would have rodents and insects crawling in the school and kids would get sick with diseases. The school would then get shut down for being unclean and P.S.119 would no longer exist. So thank you janitors for keeping 119 still here. The Cafeteria ladies are a big help as well. Studies show that kids who eat breakfast have better concentration during school hours than kids who skip the morning meal. If it wasn’t for the lunch ladies we wouldn’t be able to do our very best in class. Of course there are many other staff working and helping the school but it would take forever to explain their jobs and how their jobs affect 119.
If I were to keep going on about 119 you would be reading for hours…no days…no years!! I love P.S.119 so much because it’s such a great school that supports and cares for their students and their family. 119 is and will always be my family.
LOVE YOU P.S.119!!!

Hello, to whom ever in the world that’s reading this paragraph. This paragraph is not ordinary, but teaches you a message. It reaches over to you, out in the world. My name is Sara B Qureshi. I am from Pakistan and so is my family. Today I want to talk about human Trafficking. This happens in Pakistan as well. If you don’t know what human trafficking is, well human trafficking is modern day slavery. You ‘re probably thinking isn’t slavery over yet. Well not to many people. This happens to men, women , children and even babies. This impacts many. Kids cant go to school while we are. They harvest us chocolate, manufacture our shoes and clothing and much more. Why is it that they can’t go to school and we could? Is it because they’re poor or are at risk?
We are not different at all. We are all the same. So why not let them go to school and let them fulfill their dreams. Do you want to help these kids? I don’t care if you’re small or big, everyone can make a difference. We can help these people by doing marches and standing up for them. We can get the police to help us. If politicians can’t do anything, kick them out. We can provide kids homes and shelters, food and water and free education so that their parents wont send them out to work. So stand up for their rights now. Thank you for your time. Time is precious.
Hello my name is Joshua Chery and I come from a school that has a lot of different people from around the world. Today I would like to talk about the Paw Project. The Paw Project is about saving the lives of the cat claws because if they don’t have their claws they don’t have a life. Declawing is an amputation of the cat’s first toe bone. Unlike us, they grow the claw from the bone. Cats can get sick from this and even die from this. The question is why would you do this to a cat?
An answer to this question is for the money .Declawing is very lucrative for the vets. Let’s be honest, if the price went down for declawing- no vet would do it. Am I right? I know so.
So let’s try to make a difference for the cats. One way to fix this problem is to get soft paws.
Another way to stop this problem is to clip their nails regularly. Hey! Keep the claws in the paws!
