They use this to make food. Leaves are thin and flat so they can soak in the carbon dioxide and sunlight. Leaves can change colors in the fall. They are shaped like mittens, stars, ghosts and hearts. Let me tell you all about leaves.

  • First, leaves are important to plants. Leaves are important to plants because they take in sunlight and carbon dioxide and the plant uses this to make food and oxygen for us.
  • Next, leaves have chlorophyll.(co-ler-fill) Chlorophyll is what helps the leaves turn green. If they lose their chlorophyll they turn red, gold, or orange in the fall.
  • Third leaves fall off trees because the bottom cells in the separation layer form a seal between leaf and the tree. The cells in the top of the separation layer begin to disintegrate (de-sin-ter-great) They form a tear line and eventually the leaf is blown away or simply falls off the tree.
  • Fourth, an aloe and ginko leaf can be medicine. Aloe leaf can heal minor cuts and burns. My grandma has an aloe leaf.
  • Fifth, leaves are food. For example, cabbage, collard greens, brussle sprouts, lettuce, spinach, mint and parsley are all leaves you can eat.
  • Last, leaves can be many shapes. For example, some leaves can be simple, fancy, shaped like paddles, ghosts, stars and mittens.

Leaves are amazing tiny parts of nature.

  • Leaves are parts of a plant. Leaves grow on stems and grow into different sizes and shapes. Some leaves are oval shaped and star shaped. Mrs. Berretta showed us a book with pictures of leaves that were even shaped like ghosts and hands.
  • There are many uses for leaves. Some leaves are used for medicine like an aloe leaf. It helps you because it heals cuts and burns by placing the liquid form of the leaf on open wounds. Another leaf that can be used for medicine is the ginko leaf. Ginko leaves are used in ginko-biloba, which helps people with their memory.
  • Leaves are used as food for people animals and plants. People can eat a lot of different kinds of leaves. MY family and I eat broccoli, watercress. basil, spinach and all kinds of other leaves. They are good for us because they are healthy because they give us vitamins and minerals. Animals also eat leaves for the same reasons. Leaves give food to the rest of the plant through photosynthesis.
  • Photosynthesis helps both plants and people. People breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. The leaves take the carbon dioxide and mix it with water and sunlight to give us oxygen. This is the process of photosynthesis. Leaves are important because they give us air to breathe.
  • We help plants because our carbon dioxide is used by the leaves to make food for the plant. When photosynthesis happens the leaves take our carbon dioxide and mix it with sunlight and water to create carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are used for the plant to make food.
  • Leaves are important to people because they give us food and oxygen.

I Have a Dream Too! by Jevon

I have a dream that one day this nation will be a better place.
I have a dream that one day we will all love each other.
I have a dream that one day people will stop dying.
I have a dream that we will love each other from white to black, I have a dream today.
I have a dream that children and adults will stop fighting and love each other, I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day people will be able to walk the streets at night and know they are not going to get hurt.
This is my hope and faith. With this faith we will be able to join hands and be a big happy family!
This will be a day when I die peacefully.

I Have a Dream Too! Sarah E. 5-304

I Have a Dream Too!

I have a dream that one day this nation will come together in peace and realize there is no reason to have war or separation.

I have a dream that one day this nation will make a treaty that no more wars are to be fought in the land of peace.

I have a dream that one day our nation will be filled with love and laughter instead of hate.

I have a dream that children and kids will fill the air with friendship and joy. That people come together of all nations to celebrate a special event.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day this world wont be filled with hate. It will be filled with peace like this. Two men having coffee together. One white, one black. Two children playing in the playground. One black and one white. This is what it will be filled with, happiness, respect, joy, and peace.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day we will all come together as one and be fair and equal to one another. Does not matter that I’m black, does not matter that you are white. Joy and love is all we need to make a wonderful friendship.

This is my hope and faith. With this faith we will be able to run freely among this land without being judged by our color. We will be equal to one another with kindness. With this faith I lay upon my hands…..will bring the world and us a much better way of life.

This will be the day we rise from the ashes of hate and torment, to begin a new life with honor and pride.

I…. have a dream today.

The Best School Ever By Christina And Sapphire 3-204

This school is the best ever! It’s the best school we have ever been to! Ms.Fernandez! I mean, she is one of the real peace principles in this whole world! Whenever there is a fight, the next day, or after that, people work it out. We feel sorry for the other schools who don’t have peace, love, or happiness. Hey, isn’t that why we have a peace march? So people could learn about peace and love! 🙂 You know what? Let’s spread the word! I mean tell our parents! And they could tell their friends about it too! And then they will be passing it on and on and on! Make sure you do it! Bye! 🙂

PEACE, PEACE, PEACE,PEACE,

PEACE, PEACE, PEACE, PEACE,

PEACE, PEACE, PEACE, PEACE,

PEACE!

PEACE SHOWS THE COVER OF 119

Dear Patrick Senat…Sincerely, Christopher

Dear Patrick Senat,

Thank you for coming to Class 5-301. I had a nice time when you came.

You taught my class not to give up, to work hard and to follow your dreams. You taught me alot. You are a very special person. You came to my class to spend time with us. I know a lot of kids learned something from you. For example, they should never give up on their dreams. You made a great speech and it sounded like it came from your heart.

Thank you again. I hope you can come back to my class. It’ll be another special day if you come back to my class.

Sincerely,
Christopher
