Summer, Summer Where Are You? by Samantha

Summer, Summer
Where are you?
Spring Rain…
When will you be over?
Is it God making the rain?
is he crying?
Can he please bring the sun out?
Why?
My cousin is begging for summer
because she wants to wear
pretty dresses all the time
Summer, Summer
Come here now please!

Thoughts of You: A first Draft by Genevieve Berretta

Thoughts of You by Genevieve Berretta
Inspired by the Class of 2009

Time flies
So do our lives
People in a flash pass through
How will I remember you?
But then…how can I ever forget you?
You were bright—you were brilliant
Thoughtful and resilient
Ever ready…like the battery
Each of you means so much to me
You entered this school
Tiny and small—each one of you…a rare jewel

Now I look you square in the eye
Telling you the truth…time flies
So do our lives
Advice? I rarely give it

But on this day–it seems fit

Think twice before you speak
Think twice before you leap
Every action…
Count on a reaction
And it might not be what you wanted or expect
But in this life you must direct
Every choice you make
It is a chance you take

You will be defined by the company you keep
Think carefully about all you will meet
Will they move you forward
Or force you back
Take your trust and stab you in the back?
Drag you down cause there’s something they lack
Forget your existence in an instant and go on the attack?

Who can you trust?

Who will be true?

The answer to that is…

make that person you!

It’s not your job to unearth another’s worth
Stay true to yourself above anyone else
Be kind, forthright, practice forgiveness and keep to your Peacebuilders core, your center
Caution to all who enter: YOUR LIFE

Time flies
So do our lives
People in a flash pass through
How can I ever forget you?
You are bright, you are brilliant
Thoughtful and resilient
Ever ready…like the battery
Each of you means so much to me
You entered this school
So tiny and small—each one of you… a rare jewel
Now I look you square in the eye
Telling you the truth…time flies
So do our lives
Make it count for something—just try
